Velvet Revolution
FEATURE DOCUMENTARY
Directed by Nupur Basu for the International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT), Velvet Revolution follows the stories of a number of prominent female journalists across the globe.
Due to the film’s international scope, filmmakers from six countries contributed to the final product. I filmed the British component, including interviews with the BBC’s Chief International Correspondent, Lyse Doucet, and award-winning Syrian journalist, Zaina Erhaim. At the time, Zaina and her one year old daughter were in exile from Syria after the Assad regime demanded the confiscation of Zaina’s passport.
